Patients Frequently Asked Questions

After your doctor has written you a request form, there are a number of questions you may have regarding your tests. Some of the questions you may have, are answered below:

What is a laboratory test?

By definition, it is a medical procedure that involves testing a sample of blood, urine or other substances from the body.

I need to make an appointment to have my blood drawn or to provide a urine sample?

Appointments are not necessary for most tests performed at CitiLab & Research Center. For the few tests that do require an appointment for specimen collection, your physician will provide you with the correct procedure.

My doctor said I need to fast for my test. What is fasting?

To ensure the most accurate results, certain tests require that you fast before arriving at the patient service center. In most cases, unless otherwise directed, avoid eating or drinking anything except water for 12 hours before the sample is taken.

What should I do if I can’t find the test I’m looking for?

If there is a test you are interested in but cannot find on the website, please call us at (042-35168080), we will be happy to discuss the availability of the test.

How long will the specimen collection process take?

We recognize that your time is valuable, so we try to keep wait times as short as possible. Except during high-volume times-mornings, early in the week and around beginning of the month- you can expect to wait 10 minutes or less from check in/registration until the phlebotomist (individual with special training to draw blood) calls you.

Will the blood draw be painful?

Although some patients do experience a slight discomfort when their blood is drawn, rest assured that CLRC’s skilled, experienced phlebotomist will do their best to help you remain as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

How long it does take to receive test results?

Depending on the test performed, most tests are completed and reported to your ordering healthcare provider within about 24 hours of receiving the sample for testing. Certain tests take several days to weeks. Results are sent directly to the ordering healthcare professional. Please ask your health care provider to contact you when your test results have been received.

May I receive a copy of my lab test results?

You may receive a copy of your lab test results from the Cit Lab &Research Center, Management department, which is open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Please call 042-35168080 if you have questions.
